About Us
The UK’s specialist legal aid translation service. Dedicated exclusively to supporting the legal aid system.
Who We Are
Legal Aid Translation is a specialist translation agency dedicated exclusively to legal aid work in England and Wales. We provide document translation and certified translation services at Legal Aid Agency (LAA) rates for solicitors, law firms, barristers chambers, and legal aid organisations across the UK.
We were founded on a simple principle: solicitors doing legal aid work deserve access to fast, accurate, affordable translation services delivered by people who understand their world. The legal aid sector is under immense pressure — funding cuts, rising caseloads, and increasingly complex cases. The last thing a legal aid solicitor needs is to struggle with unreliable translation providers.
Legal Aid Translation is built around the needs of legal professionals handling funded matters. Our published rates guide explains the pricing we currently use, while turnaround, certification and funding requirements are confirmed for each instruction.
Our Mission & Values
Everything we do is guided by a commitment to access to justice. We believe that language should never be a barrier to legal representation.
Access to Justice
Legal aid exists to ensure the most vulnerable members of society can access justice. We are proud to support this system by providing affordable, high-quality translation that removes language barriers from legal proceedings.
Uncompromising Accuracy
In legal translation, close enough is not good enough. We invest in qualified legal linguists, rigorous quality review processes, and specialist terminology management because we know that accuracy in translation can determine the outcome of a case.
Complete Confidentiality
Legal documents can contain highly sensitive personal information. We use confidentiality requirements, restricted access and appropriate document-handling controls, with any case-specific security or retention requirements confirmed before instruction.
Our Translators
Legal assignments are matched to linguists according to the language pair, document type and subject matter. Relevant qualifications, legal translation experience and familiarity with UK legal terminology are considered when selecting a linguist for the work.
Assignments are reviewed against the language, legal subject matter, confidentiality needs and agreed service scope. Where a particular qualification, registration or background check is required for a case, it should be specified before instruction so availability can be confirmed.
