Terms & Conditions
Terms governing the use of our translation services.
Last updated: September 21, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of translation services provided through legalaidtranslationservices.com by Legal Aid Translation Services (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Services
We provide document translation and certified translation services for legal professionals. Our services include:
• Legal aid translation at the rates quoted for the relevant instruction
• Certified translation with statement of accuracy
• Notarised translation (where requested)
• Apostille certification (where requested)
2. Placing an Order
Orders may be placed through our website order form or by email. By placing an order, you confirm that:
• You are authorised to instruct translation services
• The documents you provide are genuine and complete
• You have the necessary authority to share any personal data contained in the documents
• You accept the quoted price and delivery timeframe
3. Pricing and Payment
Translation prices are calculated based on the agreed scope and applicable rate. For legally aided cases, funding, recoverability and prior-authority requirements depend on the applicable LAA rules and the circumstances of the matter. Current rates are displayed on our Legal Aid Rates page.
Payment terms are stated in the quotation, order confirmation or invoice. VAT is applied where applicable and where stated.
Any legal-aid payment arrangement must be agreed before work begins and will be subject to the terms stated in the quotation or invoice.
4. Delivery
We will use reasonable endeavours to deliver translations within the agreed timeframe. Turnaround depends on the language pair, document volume, complexity, source quality and linguist availability, and is confirmed before instruction.
Translations are delivered by email as PDF files. Hard copies can be posted on request. We are not liable for delays caused by factors beyond our reasonable control, including incomplete or illegible source documents.
5. Quality and Accuracy
Translations are assigned according to the language pair, subject matter and agreed service requirements, with quality checks appropriate to the scope. Certification is supplied where required and agreed for the instruction.
If you identify any errors in a delivered translation, please notify us within 14 days of delivery. We will correct genuine errors at no additional charge. Disputes about translation accuracy will be resolved by reference to an independent third-party linguist.
6. Confidentiality
We treat all documents and information received from clients as strictly confidential. All translators and staff are bound by confidentiality agreements. We will not disclose your documents or information to any third party except as necessary to provide the translation service or as required by law. Our full data handling practices are set out in our Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual Property
Rights in source and translated material remain subject to the instruction, applicable law and any third-party rights. We do not use client material as public samples without written permission. Internal quality review is subject to confidentiality requirements.
8. Limitation of Liability
Our liability for any claim arising from our translation services is limited to the fee paid for the specific translation in question. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Cancellation
You may cancel an order before translation work has commenced for a full refund. Once translation work has begun, cancellation fees may apply based on the proportion of work completed. We will advise you of any applicable fees before processing a cancellation.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
